New 60's Altec rig!

Hey guys, new to the forum but long time lurker... well you altec guys would be proud!! picked up a set of 1592a's with 8 tranfsormers and 2 peerless line transformers and one phono transformer!! also one of the first graphic equalizers ever made!! the 9062a! all in a travel case!

I variaced it all up and found it all working properly, one channel wasn't passing signal ( I assume a bad transformer) .
Overall it seemed very quiet and powerful! (I had it hooked into my mono altec 1594c amp) haha it was an all altec experience!!

The equalizer was very very good ! and I wasn't expecting much either! all the sliders seemed to work except for the 130 hz slider which cut off the signal entirely when moved below 0 db... moving up works fine.. otherwise they just need cleaning it seems.. any gurus want to chime in with my first point of action?
oh and why do the line transformers seem to be worth more than the mic trannys? they feel heavier obviously... what do people use the peerless transformers to build?

They're nice little SS 5-channel mixers, can accept line, mic, or phono inputs with the right xfmrs. IIRC there are independant outs for monitors or mains. Basic 2-stack tone controls. A pair like that in a road case is cool indeed!

Tyler, The plug-in xfmrs can be used in most altec green gear as well as many other apps. The 4722s in particular see use in phono stages, as do 15095s though I consider that a waste...

Added:
Your variac treatment may have "saved" some snap-crackle-and-pop the old electrolytic caps might have made, but it would still be wise to install fresh 'lytics all around. Other than that, if it ain't broke...
